Incident at Maloney Road, Bolivar
At approximately 1420hrs today, a truck collided with a southbound Indian Pacific passenger service operated by Great Southern Railway at the Maloney Road level crossing, near the ARTC crossing loop at Bolivar.
The truck hit the second and third carriages of the train, derailing the rear bogie of the second carriage carrying motor vehicles belonging to passengers on board the Indian Pacific.
ARTC understands that the driver of the truck that collided with the train has been airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
There have been no reported injuries to the crew or passengers aboard the Indian Pacific.
The crossing at Maloney Road is a ‘passive’ crossing protected by warning signs and clearly visible ‘Stop’ signs.
The crossing was reviewed by the State Government’s Level Crossing Review Committee last year and found to conform to the accepted standards for line-of-sight and warning notices.
