Australian Rail Track Corporation crews are working to clear and repair a damaged rail line in North West NSW following a coal train derailment.
A total of 19 wagons from a Pacific National coal train travelling from Boggabri to Newcastle derailed near Breeza (near Gunnedah), at 4.35pm yesterday (Tuesday).
The accident extensively damaged about 250 metres of track and a culvert as well as the loaded coal wagons.
As a result of the incident, Countrylink passengers to and from Gunnedah, Narrabri and Moree are being transferred by bus around the site.
ARTC expects to have the last of the damaged coal wagons removed from the site by Friday evening and the line to be reopened on Saturday afternoon.
ARTC is working with Pacific National and the Office of Transport Safety Investigation to determine the cause.
