Works package rolls out on Hunter Valley rail corridor

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is rolling out another large package of upgrades to take advantage of a single possession between the 18th to 20th May on the Hunter Valley rail corridor.

Approximately 88 individual projects will be carried out during the closedown placing this closedown amongst the largest undertaken in the Hunter Valley.

ARTC Acting CEO, Andrew Bishop, explained that this large possession was part of ARTC’s strategy to further develop capacity on the Hunter Valley Coal lines.

“This is another large corridor possession for the Hunter Valley coal lines and will allow ARTC to implement valuable upgrades and make preparations for major capital works that are planned for the future as part of the ongoing development of the Hunter Valley Rail Corridor,” he said.

Examples of the works being undertaken include:

  • Standard rail and turnout resurfacing;
  • Rail grinding;
  • Bridge maintenance;
  • Ballast cleaning; and
  • Signal upgrades and maintenance.
