ARTC pays tribute to Hon. Tim Fischer AC

The rail industry has lost a great friend with the passing of the Honourable Tim Fischer AC today.

Former Nationals Leader and Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) Chairman, Warren Truss, said:

“Tim was a champion for rail. He knew the rail systems of the world in great detail and wrote prolifically on the industry. He was incredibly interested in rail history and loved everything to do with trains.

“He had a vision for rail in Australia and was a strong advocate for Inland Rail and took a keen interest in the progress of the project.

“My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with Tim’s wife Judy and two children, Harrison and Dominic, at this very sad time.”

ARTC CEO and Managing Director John Fullerton also acknowledged the significant contribution Mr Fischer had made to the rail industry and Australian society.

“Tim was a passionate advocate for rail and much loved by everyone he came into contact with,” John Fullerton said.

“We acknowledge everything he’s done not only for our industry over his lifetime, but for the statesmanship and leadership he provided to this country.

“He will be sadly missed as a friend and a leader within the Australian rail industry.”
