Building a more resilient freight future

After five years of planning, development and testing, we have enabled replication of our critical train control systems in backup control centres at Kidman Park SA, Broadmeadow NSW, as well as a third under construction in Wagga Wagga NSW.

This means if one or more of our primary network control centres are disrupted, we can continue to safely deliver operational services to our customers.

“In these constantly changing times, building resilience is critical to an organisation’s success,” said Simon Ormsby, Group Executive Interstate Network.

“Resilience enables us to respond more effectively to disruption, adapt to challenges as they arise, mitigate risk, and allows a faster return to ‘business as usual’.

“ARTC’s network control centre operations are crucial in keeping goods moving across the country. So, in the event of an emergency such as a fire, flood, or cyber breach, these alternate sites enable us to maintain business continuity for our customers, as well as keep our people safe.”
