Essential maintenance and improvement works undertaken between Sydney and Albury from 2-5 May 2025 have resulted in the removal of 15 temporary speed restrictions (TSRs) across the corridor.
“On the Main South Line, 11 TSRs have been removed on the Up Main, which equates to faster travel times for our customers between Albury and Sydney of up to 16 minutes for freight services,” said John Hilton, Possessions Manager.
“And on the Down Main, four TSRs have been removed following the completion of shutdown activities, equating to time savings of up to seven minutes.
“It was another big effort from our frontline teams, which of course contributes to our broader efforts as a business to keep improving network safety and reliability, and drive the competitiveness of rail.”
The works between Enfield and Moss Vale, Moss Vale and Goulburn, and Goulburn and Junee, included re-railing, track reconditioning, signalling, vegetation, ballast and tamping activities.
In addition, signalling works were undertaken as part of the Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities project in preparation for commissioning of the Werai site in September.
