Level crossing upgrade: Bylong Valley Way, Sandy Hollow, NSW – September 2026 to February 2027

2026-09-14 - 2027-02-28

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is upgrading the Bylong Valley Way level crossing in Sandy Hollow to improve safety for road and rail users.

The upgrade will include:

  • Installation of boom gates
  • Upgraded flashing lights and warning bells
  • Minor road works and new line marking on both approaches
  • Demolition works
  • Signalling upgrades.

Work at the site will start from Monday 14 September 2026, with the level crossing expected to be fully operational by early 2027.

Most work will take place during standard construction hours (7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and 8:00am to 1:00pm, Saturdays).

Some nightwork will occur during planned trackwork closedowns from 17 to 20 November 2026 and 9 to 12 February 2027.

Reduced speed limits and single-lane closures will be in place as required throughout the works. Traffic controllers and signage will safely guide road users around the worksite.

This upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Regional Level Crossing Upgrade Fund (RLCUF), the NSW Government’s Level Crossing Improvement Program (LCIP) and ARTC. View the full program of NSW upgrades here.
