The Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities project involves the construction of new rail crossovers at Werai, south of Moss Vale and Joppa Junction, south of Goulburn.
The project aims to increase flexibility, reduce delays and reduce congestion on the network, in particular for freight and passenger services on the Sydney to Melbourne rail line.
The Australian Government is fully funding the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to deliver the project.
Project info
The Australian Government has committed $41.5 million for the project, which will increase efficiency by allowing trains to be overtaken by faster services.
