NETWORK
Our Hunter Valley network moves coal,
general freight, bulk freight and passengers
- around 240 trains per day. Around half of
these trains are loaded with coal for export
to overseas markets, part of our role in
supporting one of the world’s largest
coal export operations.
Coal throughput and prices are relatively
stable again this year with some local
variability as a result of mine closures as
companies downsize their interests,
but in other areas we are seeing modest
increases in throughput. Due to the
conditions, to assist our customers, our
focus across the entire network has
been cost efficiency and working hard
on improving network productivity.
