ARTC has again worked with industry
to refine its Corridor Capacity Strategy
to identify projects needed to maintain
rail capacity ahead of demand. ARTC has
included in the rail projects which will
be needed to support the development
of the fourth coal terminal at Newcastle
(T4). ARTC has commenced the planning
and development of the T4 related
projects which will be submitted to the
industry for agreement.
Furthermore, work was well advanced
on the Maitland to Minimbah third
road and the project remains on target
to commission by the end of 2012. The
Nundah Bank project is also on time and
will commission by November 2012.
Other projects completed in the year
include two passing loops on the Ulan line
at Bengalla and Wilpinjong and three loops
on the Gunnedah Basin line at Koolbury,
Bells Gate and Burilda.
In addition to works identified in the
Corridor Capacity Strategy, ARTC has
also commenced planning a series of
infrastructure projects designed to reduce
operational congestion on the network.
These were identified by the HVCCC and
are the first projects requested by a third
party in accordance with the Hunter Valley
Access Undertaking.
