Earlier this afternoon there was a derailment at the Broken Hill shunting yards.
A locomotive rolled from a stationary position and was caught in the yard’s ‘catch points’. This resulted in a derailment. The locomotive and some wagons have rolled onto their side.
An ARTC recovery team is on site and will conduct an investigation. Any required repairs will then be made and the locomotive and wagons will be put back on track.
The derailment has not resulted in any line closures.
