At this year’s Steamfest, two historic steam locomotives – engines 3265 and 3526 – will take centre stage in the feature sold-out event, ARTC’s Great Train Race, where they will race from Newcastle to Maitland alongside a Tiger Moth plane in a thrilling competition.
Locomotives 3265 and 3526 are both part of the Transport Heritage NSW railway fleet, known for their ‘double-heading’ runs.
Hunter Valley Steamfest is a celebration of steam power, history, and family fun. The program features live music, roving performances, heritage walks, market stalls, gourmet food, and more. Visitors can also hop aboard a heritage steam train ride to explore stunning Hunter destinations.
Steamfest kicks off on Saturday 12 April, from 9am to 8pm through til Sunday 13 April from 9am to 4pm.
NSW Trains will be running additional services to Maitland Station which will place attendees right in the heart of Steamfest. For further information on travelling by train please visit www.transportnsw.info.
