Government progresses TRACK rail freight incentive program

The Australian Government has opened applications for Round 1 of its new Transport Resilience and Capacity Kickstart (TRACK) pilot program, with $26 million in incentives available to move more freight by rail.

The program is designed to encourage greater use of Australia’s rail network and support more efficient, reliable and resilient supply chains.

By shifting more freight from road to rail, the initiative aims to reduce road congestion, improve safety, lower emissions and boost productivity.

The program was developed following collaboration between government and industry – including ARTC – to identify opportunities to grow rail freight and make better use of the national network.
