We’re working hard to improve network performance between Sydney and Melbourne, including more than 20,000 hours of work during a three-day ‘super possession’ completed earlier this week.
To help improve network resilience and reliability, works were carried out from 12-15 September 2025 on the Main South Line between Sydney and Melbourne, and between Cootamundra and Parkes.
Works included re-railing, track reconditioning, structures upgrades and repairs, as well as mudhole removal and track ballasting and tamping. Significantly, activities also included the completion of crossover installation works and replacing signalling infrastructure at Werai to progress our Southern Highlands Overtaking Opportunities project.
