Level crossing upgrade – Mid-Western Highway, Caragabal NSW – 9 March to 12 May 2026

We are upgrading the level crossing at Mid-Western Highway, Caragabal, to improve safety for road and rail users.

This work is scheduled from 7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday 9 March to Tuesday 12 May weather permitting. Our work pattern will be ten days on, four days off for the duration of this project.

This upgrade will install boom gates and replace the flashing lights and bells to reduce the risk of collisions and near misses.

You may have noticed we have already begun preparation works and material deliveries.

Traffic controllers and signage will safely guide road users and pedestrians around the worksite.

This level crossing is currently passive. Until the new signals and boom gates are installed, please:

• Look. Listen. Think.
• Pay attention to the existing bells and warning lights.
• Take extra care when crossing
