ARTC wins Hunter Business Award

The Australian Rail Track Corporation’s Hunter Valley division was recognised among the best in Hunter business on Friday 8 August, winning the Hunter Business Chamber award for ‘Contribution to the Region’.

The Contribution to the Region Award recognises an organisation that has made a significant contribution to the ongoing prosperity and growth of the Hunter Region outside its core business activity.

In its submission, ARTC’s Hunter Valley Division highlighted both the economic and social contribution it had made to the Hunter Valley region over the last year, noting ARTC runs a highly specialised and complex infrastructure delivery and operations service.

In addition, ARTC highlighted its support for a number of community groups and activities:

  • Through the staff initiated and managed annual Hunter Charity Ball, The Hunter Valley Division has become a major fundraiser with more than $420,000 raised for charities including the Starlight Foundation, Miracle Babies Foundation, Autism Spectrum Australia – Hunter Valley and the Hunter Valley chapter of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. This has helped provide vital funding, new equipment and resources;
  • The Hunter Valley division has also supported a Koori Rugby League group, the Castlereagh ‘All Blacks’, for the last three years in its annual indigenous tournaments at different centres around the Hunter Valley and mid North Coast;
  • It continues to care for and invest in the Hunter Valley’s rail heritage infrastructure; and,
  • Demonstrates a commitment to promoting the rail safety message around the Hunter community.

The winning submission noted the need to keep transforming for the better and how the Hunter Valley Division is constantly looking at ways it can improve it does business (for both our customers and key stakeholders) while balancing the everyday need to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations.
