Update on flooding impacts on ARTC lines

Continuing flooding across New South Wales is having a significant impact on the ARTC rail network.

The derailment at Inverleigh, Victoria, combined with the flooding currently impacting the Broken Hill line means all east-west corridors from VIC and NSW are closed.

The Adelaide to Perth and Adelaide to Darwin corridors are not impacted.

Broken Hill Line:

The Broken Hill line remains closed due to flooding.

Flood waters continue to rise in the Condobolin area with several washaways occurring over the weekend.

Lachlan River levels are expected to re-peak in late-November, and current forecasts indicate major flooding will continue into December and ongoing flooding events continue to see water levels rising.

Track inspection and repairs can only commence once water levels in the rail corridor recede significantly, and the duration of repairs will be dependent on the damage sustained.

Cootamundra to Parkes Line:

The Cootamundra to Parkes Line remains closed as flood water from the Lachlan River continues to rise following record rainfall over the weekend. Estimated reopening of line will be reassessed once floodwaters recede

Hunter Valley Network:

There are no current impacts to the Hunter Valley Network.
