The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out essential rail maintenance and improvement works on the Southern Highlands line between Enfield to Cootamundra this coming weekend.
During the works the line will be closed between Enfield West to Moss Vale from 10:30pm Friday 10 November until 2:00am Monday 13 November.
The line will also be closed between Moss Vale and Cootamundra from 6:00am Saturday 11 November until 6:00pm Sunday 12 November.
The works, which are part of ARTC’s annual maintenance program, include installing 14km of new rail, track tamping, turnout maintenance, mudhole removal and vegetation control.
Road coaches will replace trains on NSW TrainLink services. Customers should contact www.transportnsw.info for more details, or call 13 22 22 to check on service status and any alternate transport arrangements.
ARTC is reminding motorists to remain vigilant and slow down at level crossings during the shutdown, with machinery and other movements still occurring on the rail line.
ARTC General Manager Asset Maintenance Services, Costas Kokkoni said:
“These works will see $7 million worth of essential track maintenance and improvement works completed to maintain a high standard of safety and reliability.
“Regular maintenance ensures that the Southern Highlands network’s vital supply chain for the economy and jobs can keep moving, as well as keeping our customers, staff, and the community safe.
“ARTC would like to thank the community for their patience while these critical, long-term improvements take place.”
